Well the year's almost out and I fear I haven't really done to much with this page. While I still like Sonic I haven't really been drawing him or any of his posse much these days. I've mostly been working on fantasy art and sculpts some of which I have photos of on my other page here :icongoblynns-den: . I also went back to college this year so that ate up much of my time. Though I will likely come back to this page from time to time art is likely not going to submitted very often.

That said, I was curious if there was anything in particular folks would like to see from me this coming year. For example, does anyone want to see more art of Amy Rose, Sticks, or any of the Boom characters? Or, should I stick with art of the hedgehog trio, Sonic, Shadow and Silver? Or, maybe some would like to see art from a different game all together like Pokemon?

Again, I likely won't post much but if I get a ton of requests for a particular character or theme I'll see about making it priority. ;)

If you can't guess by the title there I've started a new account on DA. I've done this because I've taken up sculpting and am looking to start an Etsy shop. The genre, however, is fantasy, and thus I don't feel the Deviations fit the rest of my gallery here. So I've decided to keep the two accounts separate. Rally-the-Cheetah will be used to upload anime and Sonic-related images and my other account will have photos of my sculptures.

For those that are into sculptures of the Fey then you can find me here :icongoblynns-den:. I don't have really anything there yet but should soon have several photos up later this week.

I'll come out and say it right now: I'm liking what I'm seeing of Sonic BOOM. Yeah the change in character designs took some getting used to but seeing the clean models at E3 I feel I like them much better now. The alpha stage ones were, well, a little ugly.

This said, I notice the comments and hype for Sonic BOOM is a real mixed bag and range anywhere from people loving it to seeing it as blasphemous. Oddly enough I'm not bothered by this, in fact I find myself delighted by it. It's strange really, at first I thought I felt this way because the fact that such a strong argument even exists shows Sonic is still popular and loved by many people. But, as started posting my thoughts about the game around various sites, I think I found another reason. As was typing a comment in the Sonic Stadium news section I mentioned how there are many different takes on Super Heroes, and how sometimes these takes are drastically different from one another. The Adam West Batman is much different than, say, Nolan's image of Batman. Then it hit me: I'm comparing Sonic to super heroes. And not just Super heroes, in the post I mentioned icons like Batman, Superman, Spider-man, the Avengers and even Godzilla. Yes I mostly used these as examples because they all were starring in recent movies, but, hey, they are starring in recent movies . I've always considered Sonic an icon but he was always a gaming icon. I don't know, for some reason throwing in the word "gaming" just doesn't seem to hold as much weight. Maybe it's because it's limiting the word icon. When you say it you're basically saying he's only an icon to the gaming community. But now I feel that's starting to change. For the first time ever a Sonic game is being based on a cartoon series; in other words one form of Sonic media is directly impacting another. Yes, Sonic is not new to the TV series scene but none of those shows really ever had any influence on games. Yeah there were cameos sometimes in games like say the mini pinball game in Sonic pinball with Princess Sally and the race track in Sonic All Stars Racing with an image of Sonia on the track but those don't really count. No, until this point the game version of Sonic has been in his own little universe, untouched by any event or story in other Sonic media. Now that's changed... Sorta. It's already been said that the Sonic Boom universe is it's own entity and the events in it don't relate to events in other Sonic media and visa versa.  In other words it's a different take on Sonic, a reimagining, a revamp. But, unlike comic revamps or reboots, the game Sonic well all know will not be effected. I guess this makes sense seeing as the show and game aren't going to be available in Japan and are pretty much a Western take on Sonic but, hey, Sonic's been revamped! He's going through the same stages as comic heroes when their stories get rewritten. That means, in some small way, he's becoming as much of an icon as they are, even though he hasn't been around nearly as long w00t! .

The fact that a Sonic movie has been confirmed even furthers this notion. Sonic's going into the big leagues, for better or worse. Am I excited for all this? You bet! But I'm also a little worried. Movies based on games have been, for the most part, notoriously bad. With Sonic BOOM already splitting the fan base a movie might be too much too soon; especially since it's rumored to be a mix of live action and CG. Still, one never knows. Maybe it'l be all right Unimpressed .

Hello all, =)

It's been a while since I last wrote something here so I figured I'd make a quickie update as to what's been going on. Lately I've run into a little bit a an dilemma here at DA: I'm torn between what art people want to see from me and what art I actually enjoy making. If you check my gallery you'll notice I make some little figurines I made a while back. I had great fun making those but, as I sorta expected, no one really took any notice of them because, well, sculpture is not what I'm known for. For years I've been a Sonic the Hedgehog fan and so my gallery is pretty much expected to be nothing but images related to the franchise. And, for the most part, it is: I have Sonic cosplay in there, I have my Shadow comic pages, I have random drawings of Sonic and Shadow, etc. Yes I love Sonic, but I find it a little depressing that that's all I'm known for. In fact I have many other drawings of fantasy creatures in my sketchbook that I don't even bother to scan because I know no one here would be interested in seeing them. I also have made several other fantasy figurines that I haven't bothered posted any pictures of for the same reason.

Now, I think I've come up with a solution to this situation: I'll just make another account =). Since Rally has been known for years as a Sonic artist she'll stay that way. In fact, I think I might just delete the images of the sculptures I have here and move them to the new account. Why haven't I done all this yet, well, I figured I'd give some heads up first. That and I'm a little lazy and don't know what to name my other account just yet =P.

Finally, what does all this mean for this account? Well fear not, I still plan on posting Sonic art. I'm excited for the new Sonic Boom series so you may very well see more images of that.  I also plan to continue my Shadow comic series as well. The one thing I do ask you all is please, for the love of all things good stop badgering me about them! I'm flattered you all like the series that much but it get annoying when the only comments I get are "WHERE'S THE NEXT PAGE?!!!!" Guy's, I make these comics for fun and because I like the Sonic series. I'm not getting paid for any of it, I make them on my free time which, some weeks, I have very little of. The next page will come, when it comes. Despite what many of you might think I'm actually a very lousy artist. It can take me hours to complete an image to even a day. That Diablo 3 image I just posted recently; I wasn't lying when I said that was all I'd been up to for the last month. Do I like it and think it's cool, heck yes. But I also know it's nothing compared to what other artists can do in half that time. Heck, there are those that could have made that image in hour. So yes, despite her screen name and her love of the speedy Sonic Rally draws about as fast as a speeding snail. And no, I'm not talking Turbo the snail here, just a everyday garden snail.

So, yeah, that's about it for now. Once I figure out a name for my other account and get it going I'll make a journal with a link to it here. I'm not expecting it to be anytime too soon since there's really no hurry but it's something that could very well be on the horizon.    :aww:

Hey all, =D
I wanted to thank everyone for the Happy Birthdays and give a quick update as to what I've been up to for the last month and a half. After completing my Zavok pumpkin stencil for Halloween (of which I'll post a photo of soon), I sorta decided to take on some personal projects. During the month of October, and even a little before that, I started to suffer from depression. For a while I was considering seeing a doctor but thankfully it went away and I didn't have to see him about any medication. Still, it got me to thinking about some things and I decided I'd try and take up some sculpting. I really enjoyed sculpting the few Sonic figures I have posted on here and I was really bummed when I never got to take the sculpting class at the Art Institute. I feel really happy when I'm playing with clay but have never really pursued it because I didn't know what I'd do with all the finished projects. Then it dawned on me: Christmas was coming up. I'd sculpt gifts for my grandparents and my Aunt since they like collecting little figures have space in their homes to display them. So after Halloween I went to work on the gifts. Every day off I got from work I'd spend sculpting one of the figures or painting them. Once they were complete I took several pictures of them (which I'll post here on DA). I have to say I really enjoy sculpting and think I may continue it for a while so don't be surprised if suddenly I post up a ton of photos. My husband suggested I try and sell my work and I think I may consider it once I get more practice. If I do I'll likely sell on Etsy and will post images of the sculpts here on DA. ;)

Switching gears a bit this year has been a good one but I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm starting to get excited for what lies ahead. During my birthday celebration I was able to get in contact with an old high school friend of mine who's looking into moving out of her house. She's interested in living up in Oregon City with us (my husband, roommates and I) and we figured, heck, why not have her as a roommate? Thing is we'd have to move out seeing as our place would be too small. So we're looking into getting a house =D . It'll be quite an adventure since none of us have ever shopped for houses before. Thankfully we have family who can help us out. Best thing is the timing works well since she'll be looking for a place to say around the end of February and our lease expires April. My husband and I are gonna chat with a lender tomorrow so with any luck we may have a move to plan for.
